The Base Ghana First Denies Planned July 3 Walk, Vows Legal Action Against Impostors

In a move that has sent shockwaves through Ghana’s political landscape, The Base Ghana First, a newly established political movement, has vehemently disowned a widely circulated social media announcement claiming the group would organise a public walk on July 3, 2026. The organisation’s leader, Malam Issah, has described the claim as false and misleading, urging Ghanaians to ignore the announcement entirely and only trust official communications from the legitimate leadership.

A Press Conference to Clarify the Confusion

At a press conference held in Kumasi on Wednesday, Malam Issah addressed the public directly, rejecting the authenticity of the July 3 walk and clarifying that no such event has been planned. He stressed that only authorised channels—including the organisation’s official social media platforms and press releases—should be considered credible sources for future announcements.

The confusion, according to Malam Issah, stemmed from an imposter group operating under the same name, The Base Ghana First, which has unauthorisedly taken credit for organising the walk. He firmly denied any affiliation with this rogue entity, insisting that his organisation is the sole legitimate representative of the name.

A Warning Against Public Misinformation

Malam Issah’s statement was unambiguous:

“We have not decided to organise any walk on July 3. When we are ready to embark on such an exercise, we will officially inform the public. We urge everyone to disregard this false announcement.”

He emphasised that the organisation has no connection to the proposed event and will not be held responsible for any actions taken under the imposter’s name.

Legal Action Threatened Against the Impostors

The situation has escalated, with Malam Issah threatening legal consequences if the imposter group proceeds with the walk. He warned that The Base Ghana First will take all necessary legal steps to protect its brand and prevent public deception.

“We will not tolerate the misuse of our name. If they proceed with this walk, we will pursue all available legal avenues to hold them accountable.”

Brand Ambassador and Official Communications

To further clarify the organisation’s identity, Malam Issah announced that Agya Koo, a veteran Ghanaian actor and public figure, serves as The Base Ghana First’s official brand ambassador. He assured the public that all future engagements, public statements, and activities will be solely communicated through the organisation’s recognised leadership.

This move is part of a strategic effort to prevent public confusion and strengthen the group’s credibility as it expands its political presence in Ghana.

A Growing Political Landscape

The Base Ghana First, though relatively new, has quickly positioned itself as a significant player in Ghana’s evolving political scene. With rising public interest and growing scrutiny, the organisation’s leadership is determined to maintain transparency and avoid misinformation that could undermine its legitimacy.

Malam Issah’s firm stance against the imposter group signals a commitment to protecting the organisation’s reputation and ensuring that only verified information is shared with the public.

What This Means for Ghanaians

For citizens following Ghana’s political developments, this clarification is crucial. The disowning of the July 3 walk serves as a reminder that not all social media announcements—especially those from newly formed groups—should be taken at face value.

As The Base Ghana First continues to build its movement, the organisation’s leadership is prioritising accountability and clarity, ensuring that supporters and the general public remain well-informed about its activities.

A Call for Vigilance

The incident also highlights the importance of media literacy in Ghana, where misinformation and impersonation can quickly spread, particularly on social platforms. Malam Issah’s proactive response demonstrates the need for political organisations to establish clear communication channels to prevent public confusion and protect their brand integrity.

As Ghana’s political landscape continues to diversify, such transparency efforts will be essential in maintaining public trust and ensuring that emerging movements operate with credibility.
