The Base Ghana First Denies July 3 Walk, Vows Legal Action Against Fraudulent Group

In a bold move that has sent shockwaves through Ghana’s political arena, The Base Ghana First, a newly established political movement, has publicly disavowed a widely circulated social media announcement claiming the group would organise a mass public walk on July 3, 2026. The organisation’s leader, Malam Issah, has vehemently rejected the claim as false and misleading, urging Ghanaians to ignore the announcement entirely.

Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi on Wednesday, Malam Issah clarified the organisation’s stance, stating that no such walk has been planned or authorised. He emphasised that any future official activities—including public rallies, walks, or engagements—will only be communicated through the group’s verified channels.

A Name in Dispute: The Confusion Over “The Base Ghana First”

The misinformation campaign appears to have originated from another unaffiliated group operating under the same name, a tactic that has deepened political confusion in the country. Malam Issah stressed that his organisation is the legitimate entity and warned against associating it with any imposter groups using the same branding.

“We have not decided to organise any walk on July 3,” Malam Issah declared. “When we are ready to embark on such an exercise, we will officially inform the public through our authorised channels.”

The leader reiterated that The Base Ghana First is not involved in the proposed walk, urging supporters to dismiss the false information circulating online.

Legal Action Threatened Against Fraudulent Group

In a strong statement, Malam Issah vowed to take legal action against the imposter group if they proceed with the walk. “We will pursue all necessary legal measures to protect our organisation’s identity and prevent further misinformation,” he stated.

Brand Ambassador Agya Koo: Ensuring Authentic Communication

To prevent further confusion, Malam Issah announced that veteran actor Agya Koo has been appointed as the official brand ambassador of The Base Ghana First. All future public engagements, announcements, and activities will be sanctioned through the group’s leadership, ensuring that supporters receive only verified information.

A Strategic Move to Safeguard the Organisation’s Reputation

The clarification comes as The Base Ghana First seeks to solidify its presence in Ghana’s political landscape. Malam Issah highlighted the importance of maintaining a clear and authentic identity, warning that misinformation could undermine the group’s credibility**.

“Our primary goal is to build trust with the public,” he said. “We will not tolerate imposters exploiting our name to create unnecessary confusion.”

The Broader Implications for Ghana’s Political Scene

The incident underscores a growing trend of name-sharing and impersonation among emerging political movements in Ghana. With multiple groups adopting similar branding, the need for stricter verification mechanisms has become more pressing than ever.

Malam Issah’s firm stance against the fraudulent walk serves as a cautionary tale for other political organisations, emphasising the importance of transparency in communication.

What’s Next for The Base Ghana First?

While the group has denied any involvement in the July 3 walk, its leadership has not ruled out future public engagements. However, all future announcements will now be carefully vetted to ensure no further misinformation spreads.

As Ghana’s political landscape continues to evolve, The Base Ghana First’s response to this name-related controversy may set a precedent for how emerging movements handle branding disputes.
