The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially released the highly anticipated fixtures for the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League, setting the stage for an electrifying season brimming with high-octane derbies, title-chasing drama, and historic debuts. With the league set to kick off on September 4–7, 2026, and conclude on May 28–31, 2027, fans can expect a 34-match weekend campaign—free of midweek fixtures—a strategic move by the GFA to reduce travel burdens on clubs and prioritize player welfare.

A Season of Historic Debuts and Title Battles

The opening weekend promises unforgettable encounters, with reigning champions Medeama SC beginning their title defense with a challenging away trip to Dreams FC. Meanwhile, Bibiani Gold Stars, the 2025 runners-up, face an equally tough road opener against Bechem United.

Two clubs making their Premier League debuts will steal the spotlight:
– Debibi United FC, the newly promoted side, will face Asante Kotoko SC in a high-stakes home match, marking their historic entry into the top flight.
– Port City FC will also begin their maiden Premier League season at home, facing fellow newcomers FC AshantiGold 04 in a first-ever clash between the two clubs.

In Accra, Hearts of Oak (Ghana) will host Berekum Chelsea, reigniting their quest for another league title, while Basake Holy Stars take on Swedru All Blacks in another must-watch fixture.

Other notable Matchday 1 clashes include:
– Vision FC vs. Young Apostles
– FC Samartex 1996 vs. Karela United (in Samreboi)
– Aduana FC (two-time champions) traveling to Kpando to face Heart of Lions

The Super Clash: Asante Kotoko vs. Hearts of Oak

One of the most anticipated fixtures of the season is the Asante Kotoko vs. Hearts of Oak clash, known as the Super Clash. The first leg is scheduled for Matchday 13 (December 4–7, 2026), while the reverse fixture will take place on Matchday 30 (April 30–May 3, 2027). Both matches are expected to dominate headlines and shape the title race, given the historical intensity of this rivalry.
