Ghana’s top court has ordered the Speaker of Parliament to reverse a decision that left four seats vacant, a ruling which will restore President Nana Akufo-Addo ’s majority in the 275-member house if implemented before new elections in December.
The ruling New Patriotic Party lost its majority on Oct. 17 when Speaker Alban Bagbin deemed the seats as vacant due to a procedural irregularity, reducing the NPP bloc in the hung parliament to 135 seats.
