Ex-Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien secures UEFA Football Management Certification

Former Ghana and Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has achieved a UEFA certificate in football management, marking another significant step in his post-playing career. 

Known for his commanding presence on the field with clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid, and AC Milan, Essien continues to build his expertise in coaching and football management.

Essien committed several months to the UEFA program, a mix of online modules and in-person sessions. Upon completing the intensive course, he expressed his excitement on social media, stating, “Finally done with my UEFA certificate in football management journey. Thanks all for the help. I keep learning about the beautiful game.”

Currently, Essien works as an individual talent coach with Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjaelland, where he applies his knowledge to develop young players. 

Essien’s football journey began at Bastia in France, later rising to prominence with Olympique Lyonnais. His time at Chelsea, where he won multiple Premier League titles and the Champions League, solidified his status as one of the world’s elite midfielders. His career took him to other top clubs, including Real Madrid and AC Milan, where he further demonstrated his versatility and tactical skill.

Essien’s new certification adds to his growing qualifications, bringing a wealth of field experience and management insight to his coaching endeavors.
