It seems like Rodri looks set to beat Vinicius Jr to become the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner.
It was reported on Monday that Vinicius’s camp fear Rodri has won the Ballon d’Or over him.
So much so that Fabrizio Romano has also revealed that Real Madrid have decided not to attend the award ceremony in Paris as they are aware that the Brazilian superstar is set not to win the award.

Since Jude Bellingham is also in the running to win the Ballon d’Or, it seems like Romano has more or less confirmed that Rodri is set to become only the second Spanish player in history to win the accolade.
Sergio Aguero claimed Rodri deserves the Ballon d’Or in what was a “perfect year” for him.
Pablo Zabaleta also claimed the Spaniard was “vital for club and country” as he showed his support towards the 28-year-old while Cesc Fabregas claimed Rodri “deserves” the Ballon d’Or over Vinicius as well.
Real Madrid fans are raging as Rodri may have beaten Vinicius Jr to Ballon d’Or
Real Madrid won La Liga and the Champions League last season where Vinicius was vital for them, alongside the likes of Bellingham, Dani Carvajal and Antonio Rudiger to name a few.
However, Manchester City’s midfield maestro was crucial for them winning their fourth Premier League title in a row while being the vice-captain of a Spain side that won Euro 2024 in style.
However, Real Madrid fans online have expressed their anger at the fact that Rodri seems set to win the Ballon d’Or and make history.

Another Real Madrid supporter wrote: “He’s robbed. It could have been Vini. It could have been [Jude] Bellingham. It could have been Carva [Caravajal]. But they had to give it to Rodri, a non-Madrid player obviously.”
Lastly, another fan explained why Rodri should have lost to Vinicius, saying: “Makes no sense to me if it was about trophies, Rodri or [Erling] Haaland should’ve won it when they won the treble. It’s the best player in the world award. In a draft, the first player anyone is picking is Vini because he’s the best player in the world.”
Rodri revealed how he felt about competing with Vinicius for Ballon d’Or
Rodri discussed competing with Vinicius for the Ballon d’Or last month by expressing his admiration for him while also revealing the pride he feels to even be in contention to win the accolade.
The Spaniard said: “People say I’m going to fight with Vinicius [Junior], who is someone I admire. I think he is a great player. Just being in the conversation makes me very proud of the work I’ve put in.
“It will depend a little bit on what people value [when they vote], what they believe, and honestly, there are a lot of players who deserve to win it, so we will see what the decision is.”
Rodri continued: “But imagine for me, to be in the conversation that the people when I walk into the street, they say to me, you’re going to win the Ballon d’Or, you deserve it. And for me, that means I am already a winner with this.”
“The people that believe that I can be the best player in the world and telling me these kinds of things, for me is incredible.”
“I never dream about this. But once you are in this situation, this position, because a lot of years of work, a lot of trust on yourself and the help of all the people, you think about this award and being there is just unbelievable.”
Rodri is a class act on and off the pitch and regardless of how his potential triumph is viewed, he certainly deserves to win the Ballon d’Or as he was arguably the most consistent player in the world last season.
