Media personality and MC, Yaa Yeboah, has fiercely criticized Archbishop Salifu Amoako, leader of Alive Chapel International, for his comments following a tragic accident involving his 16-year-old son as reported by Ghana Web on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

The incident, which occurred in East Legon on October 12, 2024, resulted in the deaths of two young girls. Yaa Yeboah condemned the Archbishop’s remarks as insensitive, sparking controversy in Ghana.

The Archbishop, addressing his congregation on October 20, 2024, urged the public to avoid sensationalizing the incident, emphasizing that the tragedy was an unfortunate accident. He stated, “It was an accident.

My son did not carry a gun to kill anybody. He involved himself in a terrible accident, and I am not the one who did it, nor is his mother. It is because of my name that people are talking.”

The remarks drew a strong response from Yaa Yeboah, who reacted on UTV’s United Showbiz program on October 26. She criticized Archbishop Amoako’s choice of words, suggesting that his comments downplayed the tragedy’s severity.

“If your son had shot these people to death, it would have been better,” Yeboah stated.

“Do you know why? Because at least that pain, agony, and torture they went through before they lost their lives, that pain they went through while sitting in the burning car, watching people outside who could have saved them but couldn’t due to the fire… if the boy had shot them dead, at least their families would have had bodies to bury.”

Yaa Yeboah further criticized the Archbishop’s lack of accountability, pointing to his influence and previous statements that implied immunity from law enforcement.

She expressed disappointment, recalling how the Archbishop had previously boasted about evading traffic laws.

“This confirms that you have previously confessed to driving in this country without a license, without a number plate, and that when the police see you, they salute you instead,” she stated.

The media personality added that Archbishop Amoako should have been more vigilant, especially considering his son’s alleged history of reckless driving.

She expressed frustration that no preventive measures were taken, despite past incidents shared on social media.

Yeboah stated, “You knew that your son drives recklessly, but you never warned him. You took no precaution to prevent your son from getting access to a car, even though he’s not an authorized driver.”
