The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced that President John Dramani Mahama will host a state dinner in honour of the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, who is expected to arrive in the country for a three-day state visit.

This historic visit will mark the first time a Czech Republic president has visited Ghana since the two countries established diplomatic ties in October 1959.

Also, it will be President Mahama’s first time hosting a state visit since assuming office for his second term.

An official communication from the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications dated April 4, 2025, said, “President John Dramani Mahama will host the President of the Czech Republic, His Excellency Petr Pavel, next week for a three-day State Visit to Ghana.

“The visit from April 08 to 10, 2025, will be the first by a Czech President since diplomatic relations were established between Ghana and then Czechoslovakia in October 1959. It will also be the first State Visit hosted by President Mahama since his return to the Presidency in January 2025.”

The statement further noted that President Mahama will hold talks with Petr Pavel, addressing business matters and engaging in other activities, including a visit to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to honour the memory of Ghana’s founding father.

“While in Ghana, President Petr Pavel will hold bilateral talks with President Mahama, address a business forum, inaugurate a Czech-funded health facility and visit the Osu Castle and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. President Mahama will host a State Dinner in honour of the visiting Head of State,” the statement concluded.
