Ghanaian youngster Aaron Essel
North Texas SC have strengthened their midfield by securing the loan signing of Ghanaian youngster Aaron Essel from St. Johnstone FC for the remainder of the season.
The deal includes an option to make his transfer permanent, subject to the completion of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). St. Johnstone retains the option to recall him.
Essel, 19, arrives with experience from Scotland’s top flight, having played 18 games for St. Johnstone.
His all-around play and tireless work ethic made him a key figure in Scotland.
Before that, he developed his talent at Bechem United FC in the Ghana Premier League, where he featured in 68 games over three seasons.
“Aaron brings established professional and international experience,” said North Texas head coach John Gall.
“A midfield dynamo, he controls the middle of the park with his quality and tenacity. He reflects the standard we are setting here at the club, and we are excited to have him on the pitch.”
Internationally, Essel has represented Ghana at the U20 and U23 levels and most recently captained the U23 side in a match against Morocco.
His leadership and work ethic will be vital as North Texas pushes for victory in the MLS NEXT Pro season.
