2024/25 EPL Standings After Round 9 of Saturday’s Results

The English Premier League’s Round 9 began on Friday with Nottingham Forest defeating Leicester City 3-1 as visitors at the King Power Stadium. Five more fixtures took place today (Saturday), and here are the results and latest standings.

In a crucial title race, Manchester City extended their unbeaten streak against Southampton at the Etihad Stadium, securing all three points. With a 5th-minute goal from Erling Haaland, City now sits at the top of the table with 23 points, two points clear of Liverpool, who face Arsenal on Sunday.

At the Amex Stadium, Wolverhampton experienced a thrilling comeback, equalizing after being two goals down against Brighton. Goals from Matheus Cunha and Rayan Aït-Nouri in the final minutes (88′ and 93′) secured a 2-2 draw. Brighton had initially led through Danny Welbeck in the first half and Evan Ferguson’s being the second scorer.

Ipswich Town, still seeking their first win of the season, had a promising start against Brentford, leading 2-0 within the first 31 minutes. However, they ultimately lost the match 4-3 after conceding four goals.

At Villa Park, Bournemouth managed to secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Aston Villa, which ended Aston Villa’s run of three consecutive clean sheets at home. Ross Barkley scored for the hosts in the 76th minute, while substitute Evanilson equalized in stoppage time (90+6′).

A tense match at Goodison Park ended in a goalless first half and concluded with a 1-1 draw. Alex Iwobi’s 61st-minute strike got canceled by substitute Beto in the 90+4 minute of stoppage time.
