With over two months to go until it opens, many Liverpool fans won’t even be thinking about the January transfer window just yet.

The Reds have started phenomenally well on the pitch under Arne Slot and as a result full focus is on continuing that feel-good factor.

Nevertheless, there may well be a whole raft of work that needs to be done by Liverpool in the coming months.

It’s perhaps unlikely to be addressed in January, but there’s every chance that the Reds are going to need to bring a replacement for Mohamed Salah into the Liverpool squad before long.

Salah is currently due to leave at the end of the season and the Egyptian is going to be a hard man to replace.

Reports have claimed that talks are ongoing between Liverpool and Omar Marmoush over a potential move, but according to journalist Graeme Bailey, Marmoush is far from the only name on Liverpool’s list.

Liverpool keeping tabs on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Marmoush looks like an exciting player and it’s no surprise to hear that Liverpool may be interested in his signing.

However, to replace a player like Salah, you perhaps need to look for someone who has a slightly bigger name.

In Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Liverpool could hardly find anyone who fits that bill better. Literally.

Kvaratskhelia is currently in contract negotiations to extend his deal at Napoli. And speaking exclusively to Rousing The Kop, Bailey says that Liverpool are watching developments with interest.

“Kvaratskhelia, obviously Liverpool are one of the many clubs who are keeping close tabs on his contract talks,” says the journalist.

“Obviously he hasn’t signed yet and he’s on a very small deal at the minute. Napoli are trying to get him to sign and put in a big release clause, which he currently doesn’t have. I think he would be something of a dream signing if Salah were to go.

“Liverpool have cemented those good Georgian links with the Mamardashvili deal and every big club in Europe is going to be in the mix if he does become available,” Bailey adds. “There are less than 10 teams who can afford him and Liverpool are one of them.”

Could Liverpool really sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia?

Kvaratskhelia would indeed be a dream addition for Liverpool if they are to sign a new forward this summer.

The Georgian has been sensational ever since arriving at Napoli in 2022.

He would obviously cost a fair bit to get out of the Italian side but if he can negotiate a semi-affordable release clause into his new deal then maybe Liverpool will still think he’s worth it.

In our opinion, Kvaratskhelia would not be so much a like-for-like switch for Salah as he is a right-footed forward. However, the 23-year-old is capable of playing off either side and would be a hugely exciting addition.

As Bailey says, there would likely be competition from every big side in Europe for Kvaratskhelia, but the pull of potentially being the main man at Anfield plus his Georgian teammate Mamardashvili already being onboard could really help the Reds here.
