Liverpool could well be on the lookout for a new forward over the coming transfer windows.

The Reds currently have an arsenal of riches up front, but may soon find themselves needing to replace Mohamed Salah.

Moving on from a player like Salah is never easy for any club and it will be virtually impossible for Liverpool to find someone nearly as good as the Egyptian.

Salah is arguably the best left-footed wide forward in the world right now and perhaps has been for the last half-decade.

Despite being just 17-years-old, Barcelona wide man Lamine Yamal is another who is in that conversation.

If Liverpool need a Salah replacement then the Spain international would be something of a dream succession plan for the Reds. And after rumours that they are indeed looking into signing Yamal, the truth of the situation has now emerged.

No chance Barcelona will sell Lamine Yamal

There were reports from as far back as February that Liverpool were preparing an enormous offensive to sign Yamal.

The La Masia graduate seemed unattainable even back then but has since hit greater heights by starring in and ultimately winning Euro 2024 with Spain.

Nevertheless, The Independent claimed on Friday that Liverpool ‘greatly fancy’ signing Yamal as a result of Barcelona needing to balance their books.

But speaking exclusively to Rousing The Kop, journalist Graeme Bailey says that Barca insiders have laughed off the idea that they could sell Yamal anytime soon.

“I have spoken to Barcelona sources and once they stopped laughing about the suggestion Yamal could be sold, they confirmed that selling him has ‘never’ been discussed at any point,” Bailey reports.

“Barca are confident that the new Camp Nou will go a long way to putting them on a sound financial footing. Barca are built on their homegrown talent and Yamal, along with Gavi and Pedri are the crown jewels – they don’t want to leave and that is the key, as long as they want to stay they won’t move.

“IF, a player of that calibre was to become available, of course Liverpool would be in the mix,” adds the transfer expert. “But I am told that he has not even come up in conversations, he is not considered attainable.”

Could there be a chance for Liverpool in the future?

It is still almost unbelievable that Yamal is just 17. His quality is already absolutely stunning.

Having played 50 times for Barca last season, Yamal has been a key figure under the new management of Hansi Flick, too.

The youngster has played 13 times this term, scoring five goals and laying on seven assists.

Playing week-in-week-out for such a big club, there is no reason that Yamal would have any desire at all to leave Barcelona just now.

Of course, his career looks set to be long and glorious, though, and anything could happen in the future. If there’s a wind change even five years down the line Liverpool would surely still fancy a 22-year-old Yamal. It’s definitely a ‘no’ for now, but should anything change, it sounds like the Reds will be there.
