Black Stars Management Committee Vice chairman, Stephen Appiah, has expressed his confidence in Ghana’s chances of making the 2026 World Cup.

Ghana opened a five-point lead in Group I after beating Madagascar 3-0 on Monday in Morocco.

The 3-0 win against Madagascar was preceded by a 5-0 mauling of Chad last Friday in Accra.

Both victories have consolidated Ghana’s place in Group I with four games to end the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Appiah, who participated in two World Cups and led Ghana to its first-ever World Cup as captain in 2006, was brought in as a Black Stars technical staff in January as part of the team’s restructuring.

Speaking to 3Sports after Ghana’s emphatic win over Madagascar, Appiah urged Ghanaians to rally behind the team and expressed his confidence in the Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for the World Cup.

“We still have four games to play. When we played against Chad, it was amazing; we were not expecting something like that. So bring back the love.

“We thank them for their support, they’ve been amazing. They should continue praying for us, for the team and for sure we will be in America,” he added.

Ghana, who are top of Group I, are in pole position to make a fifth-ever World Cup appearance after previously featuring in the 2006, 2010, 2014 & 2022 editions.
