H.E. Alhaji Said Sinare, the National Chairman of the Zongo Caucus Working Committee for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized Ghana’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), labeling it as “disorganized” and blaming their current state on the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to Modern Ghana on Friday, October 25, 2024, Alhaji Sinare expressed doubt about the NPP’s ability to retain power in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Alhaji Sinare boldly stated that the NDC is ready to secure all 18 parliamentary seats in the Volta Region.

He asserted that the party is “emotionally, physically, and spiritually” prepared for the challenge and is committed to placing strong, people-centered candidates on the ballot.

Alhaji Sinare encouraged residents of regions such as Hohoe, Ketu South, and Kpando Zongo to withhold support for Dr. Bawumia, arguing that his leadership would likely exacerbate poverty and hunger in the country.

“The NDC under Mahama will ensure a 24-hour economy that caters to entrepreneurial Zongo communities,” Alhaji Sinare said, referring to initiatives like the “Big Push” for development and “Mahama Cares,” which he claims will provide substantial employment opportunities for Zongo youth, particularly in security services.

He outlined several NDC projects aimed at bolstering economic and educational infrastructure for Zongo communities, including plans to establish an Islamic University, Islamic Senior High Schools, scholarship programs for underprivileged students, and major upgrades to markets and roads in the Volta Region.

During an address to Muslim constituents in the Ketu South constituency, Alhaji Sinare also condemned the NPP’s economic policies, accusing Dr. Bawumia of failing to stabilize the Ghanaian cedi and neglecting Zongo communities.

He called upon the people in constituencies like Hohoe and North Tongu to align with the NDC’s vision. “The NPP has only prioritized their own interests over the welfare of the country,” he argued.

Alhaji Sinare further asserted that Muslims in Ghana have faced increased marginalization under the current administration, stating that incidents of anti-Muslim violence have often gone unpunished.

Concluding his remarks, he pledged that a Mahama-led government would work toward equal treatment for all citizens, particularly Muslim communities, and streamline access to essential services like ECOWAS cards and passports.
