Former Black Stars midfielder, Rabiu Mohammed, could hold back against Ghanaian football fans. He lamented how Ghanaians criticize Dede Ayew. He spoke on how Ghanaians forget about all your stellar performances for them immediately after you made a single mistake. He also spoke on how Dede Ayew wasn’t the only player who has been treated in this manner, mentioning Asamoah Gyan and Stephen Appiah as prime victims of this bad behavior.
In an interview with Akoma FM, he said, “This issue didn’t start with Otoo Addo. I saw it for years in the national team. I saw how great players like Asamoah Gyan, Stephen Appiah, Kwadwo Asamoah,, and Sulley Muntari were treated.” He continued, “These players gave their all to the national team in their prime, but when their performances declined, they were cast aside without being properly honored. This attitude kills players’ morale and makes them doubt playing for Ghana.”
