As seen In Ghana Web, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, Member of Parliament (MP) for Effiduase-Asokore and Middle Belt Campaign Coordinator for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed strong confidence in the party’s ability to secure all parliamentary seats in the Middle Belt region of Ghana.

Speaking during a recent interview, Ayew Afriye noted a distinct difference in political sentiments between the capital city, Accra, and the rest of the regions, particularly in the Middle Belt, where he believes the NPP’s performance will be resoundingly positive.

According to Dr. Ayew Afriye, the political climate in Accra tends to reflect a more urban-centric narrative that does not necessarily align with the sentiments in Ghana’s other regions.

He argues that while Accra remains a significant center for political activity and media attention, the views of the capital are not always representative of the larger voting population, particularly in the Middle Belt region.

“In Accra, political discussions are often dominated by media houses and social commentators who may not fully capture the concerns and priorities of the average Ghanaian living outside the capital,” he noted.

“When you visit the Middle Belt, the narrative is very different, and I can confidently say that the NPP has a very strong foothold in that region.”

Ayew Afriye believes that this regional difference is a key factor that will work in favor of the NPP as the party intensifies its campaign efforts ahead of the upcoming general elections.

He emphasized that while Accra’s political discussions may suggest a certain level of dissatisfaction or division, the grassroots support for the NPP in the Middle Belt is undeniable.

The MP also expressed his confidence in the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer candidate for the upcoming election.

He praised Bawumia’s track record as Vice President, particularly in areas such as digitalization, economic management, and public service delivery.

According to Ayew Afriye, Bawumia’s achievements have resonated with voters in the Middle Belt, who see him as the leader capable of continuing the transformational agenda initiated by the NPP.

“Bawumia is not only a brilliant economist but also a leader who understands the needs of everyday Ghanaians. His policies on digital infrastructure and the economy are bringing real change, and people in the Middle Belt appreciate that. They believe in his vision and his ability to lead the country to even greater heights,” Ayew Afriye stated.

Dr. Ayew Afriye further highlighted the NPP’s developmental projects in the Middle Belt region as a key reason for the party’s strong support there.

He pointed to investments in education, healthcare, and infrastructure that have significantly improved the quality of life in communities across the region.

These efforts, he argued, are a clear demonstration of the NPP’s commitment to inclusive development and governance.

“The NPP has delivered on its promises, especially in the Middle Belt. From building schools to improving road networks, the government has made tangible investments that people can see and feel. This has strengthened our support base, and I am confident that we will win all the parliamentary seats in this region,” he said.
