Some social media users, particularly on X formerly known as Twitter, are calling on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to intervene in the predicament of Ghanaian media personality, Kofi Adomah Nwanwanii.

According to these users, the Asantehene needs to step in following the tragic incident in which Kofi Adomah was shot in the eye during the firing of a musketry at a traditional event at the Dormaahene’s palace in December 2024.

However, others contest that the Asantehene has no business in the ongoing brouhaha.

The calls follow recent comments from the Benkumhene of Gomoa Amanful, Nana Abena Etruba I, who also happens to be the wife of Kofi Adomah. She expressed frustration with the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Agyemang Badu II, over what she perceives as his silence regarding her husband’s ordeal.

Kofi Adomah’s wife, while lamenting the neglect they have faced despite the fact that the incident occurred in Dormaa, expressed confidence that the powers of the stool would eventually speak in favor of her husband.

Below are some reactions from social media, “Shame on you, Dormaahene! Kofi Adomah needs your attention more than Asantehene.”

“Why is Asantehene so quiet about Kofi Adomah’s situation? Our chief believes he is one of Dormaahene’s men due to certain utterances he made some time ago.”

“I thought you people always claimed there’s no King in Ghana? Now Dormaahene is a king, right? Anyways, leave Asantehene out of this. Don’t reignite the Ashanti-Bono rivalry. Leave the real King out of this.”

“Asantehene is not the King of Ghana, so why call on him? Did you see his name on your ballot paper last year? I beg, I beg.”

“Imagine if this had happened in Kumasi at any Manhyia event—Asantehene and the Asantes would have faced endless insults. Now, see what has happened just because one man is desperate to be equal to Asantehene.”

“Keep Otumfuo’s name out of your… mouth and away from the… fingers you used to type this …”
