Ghanaians must take pride in Kurt Okraku’s election into CAF’s ExCO – Fred Acheampong

A member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, Fred Acheampong, has urged Ghanaians to take pride in the election of GFA President Kurt Okraku to the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Executive Committee.

Okraku was elected to represent WAFU Zone B on the CAF Executive Committee during the CAF Congress in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Speaking on Sporty FM, Acheampong described this achievement as a source of national pride for all Ghanaians.

“All Ghanaians should take pride in Kurt Okraku’s election as a CAF Executive Committee member,” he said.

He also clarified that, contrary to reports suggesting Okraku’s focus would be solely on developing football within WAFU Zone B, his vision extends to improving the sport across the entire continent.

“Kurt Okraku is not on the CAF Executive Committee to represent WAFU B alone. He is there as a Ghanaian to help develop African football as a whole,” he added.

Okraku now holds three major positions in football administration: WAFU Zone B President, GFA President, and CAF ExCo member.
