West Ham United play host to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, and Alan Shearer thinks we’ll win the game.

However, his reasoning really is rather bizarre to say the least.

West Ham desperately need three Premier League points against Manchester United at the London Stadium this weekend.

Julen Lopetegui arrived at West Ham in the summer amidst real excitement from the fans.

However, things haven’t gone well for the Spaniard at all so far, although it has been suggested that he will be given time to prove himself by the board.

In fact, it is claimed that the Hammers owners are prepared to give Lopetegui until the new year before a decision is made on his future.

A win against Man United would be a great start ahead of a really difficult run of fixtures for us.

Shearer thinks we’ll get the three points, but his reasoning for that really is strange to say the least.

Alan Shearer backs West Ham to beat Manchester United

The former Newcastle striker believes Lopetegui will pick up a vital three points against the Red Devils this weekend.

Shearer wrote his regular prediction column for the Metro, and predicted the outcome of the Hammers vs Man United clash.

He said, This is tough to predict because of the unpredictability of Man United. Can they kick on and get another result like last weekend? I suspect not. The pressure may be right back on them this weekend.

West Ham, with the atmosphere at the London Stadium may have enough to take the points on Sunday just as they did in their last home game against Manchester United last season. I am going to pick West Ham to win.”

I’m sorry, did I hear that right? ‘West Ham, with the atmosphere at the London Stadium may have enough to take the points on Sunday’?

That’s the definition of an oxymoron if I’ve ever heard one.

Shearer clearly hasn’t been to our Stratford home much recently has he, if at all!

The London Stadium, in my opinion, generates one of the worst atmospheres in the entire English football pyramid.

Alan Shearer predicting that West Ham will beat Manchester United is fine, I actually think we’ll get the three points as well.

However, it will have nothing to do with the ‘London Stadium atmosphere’, that’s for sure!
