The acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has asked Ghanaians to prepare themselves to be mesmerized by the maiden budget of the John Dramani Mahama government, to be delivered on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, by the Minister of Finance.

Speaking on TV3’s New Day program ahead of the budget presentation, the director of legal affairs for the ruling National Democratic Congress expressed confidence that the president will exhibit fidelity to the Ghanaian people in delivering on his campaign promises through the budget.

“What I am convinced of is that tomorrow (Tuesday, March 11), by the Grace of the Almighty God, the first budget of President John Dramani Mahama will clearly blow the minds of Ghanaians.

“The details, some of which I am privy to, will demonstrate that when a politician sits on a political platform and says, ‘Vote for me, and I will do a, b, c, d,’ he actually means exactly what he says,” he stated.

“The details and the kind of things that the President has—remember that the budget is for the President, just that the Minister only reads it on his behalf—now, in that budget, clearly the campaign promises in our social contract to the people of this country, we are going to ensure that, step by step, we will deliver on them,” he added.

Expectations are high for the budget to be presented by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in Parliament on Tuesday.

While some Ghanaians remain hopeful of significant tax cuts, some analysts have warned of dire implications for the government’s revenue mobilization efforts and fiscal responsibilities.
