BARCELONA STARS PAY TRIBUTE

Pedri wrote on Instagram: “I still can’t believe it. A big hug to Carles’ family and friends,” while Gavi added: “RIP Doqui, always in our hearts, we will miss you very much.”

Centre-back Ronald Araujo spoke of his shock at the news: “Unbelievable Rest in peace Doc. Much strength to the family and friends. May God strengthen their hearts in this difficult time.”

And injured captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen was also stunned by the loss: “I am at a loss for words… I send all my strength and support to your family and friends. Rest in peace. We will miss you very much and we will always carry you in our hearts, Carles.”

Summer signing Dani Olmo also posted a heartfelt tribute on X: “It’s hard to believe and accept everything that has happened… Carles, thank you very much for everything you have helped me with, not only this year, but throughout my entire career. You will be greatly missed, and you will always be remembered in our hearts, and in the hearts of my family. RIP Doc.”

MBAPPE & REAL MADRID OFFER CONDOLENCES

Mbappe also posted a message on social media. He wrote on Instagram: “Rest in peace, Carles.”

Real Madrid also posted a statement on social media that read: “Real Madrid CF, its President and Board of Directors are deeply saddened by the death of Carles Miñarro García, doctor of FC Barcelona. Real Madrid would like to express its condolences and affection to all his family, his colleagues, FC Barcelona and all his loved ones. May he rest in peace.”

BARCELONA TO REARRANGE FIXTURE

Barcelona and Osasuna must now try to find a date to rearrange the match which will not be easy given the congested nature of the fixture list. In the meantime, Hansi Flick’s side are due to return to action on Tuesday in the Champions League against Benfica.
