The Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has urged officials of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to adopt a more measured approach when handling matters, rather than resorting to “Rambo-style” tactics.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, following the return of former Deputy Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware Mensah, amid an ongoing investigation into a ghost names scandal at the NSA, Afenyo-Markin emphasized that NIB officials should have engaged with the relevant caucus before taking a heavy-handed approach.

“They can reach out to some of us. Sometimes, this Rambo-style approach doesn’t help. If you want to invite somebody, you can simply do so, and if the person is a public official, there should be no problem,” he said.

He suggested that if the NIB intends to investigate someone, they could issue an invitation, allowing the individual to attend with their lawyer or alone to answer questions related to the matter.

If necessary, the person could be granted bail or required to report for further investigation in an orderly and peaceful manner.
