Dr. Edwin Provencal, the Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited, has urged operators in the transport and logistics industry to embrace modern technological inventions and incorporate them into their work.

Delivering a speech on the second day of the CILT Logistics and Transport Conference on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Dr. Provencal detailed how BOST, under his tutelage, witnessed an upturn in their fortunes from a company that was making losses to one which has declared profit consistently for the past few years.

Dr. Provencal explained that the drastic changes which culminated in the profits being enjoyed by BOST were due to the incorporation of digitalization into their activities.

According to him, with the world developing at a very quick pace, it has become imperative for companies to evolve their activities to meet the demands of the current market or risk going defunct.

“All the changes we did at BOST are because we embraced digitalization. As a company, if you want to grow, you have to evolve, and the only way to evolve in this world is by embracing digitalization. All of us gathered here must make a conscious effort to leverage digitalization to improve our businesses,” he concluded.

The Global President of CILT, Chief Teete Owusu-Nortey, FCILT, told reporters that the purpose of the conference is to sensitize the public on the important role of logisticians and transport operators in the economy.

He explained that the conference also affords their members the opportunity to get exposed to the best practices and new initiatives necessary for the growth and expansion of their trade.

Chief Teete Owusu-Nortey, FCILT, outlined some major activities being embarked on by his outfit to grow the sector.

“What we are doing is to educate our members to learn the new trends, new innovations, and everything in the world. We are doing this regularly. We are present in over 100 countries, and I go around to join each of the countries to celebrate our day and have a conference to educate the public.

“Our industry is very important and must be a sought-after profession. The day is to celebrate the global community of logisticians and transport operators,” he said.
