Mahama Must Withdraw These Appointments Immediately – Minority Demands Compliance with Law

The Minority in Parliament has strongly criticized President John Mahama’s recent appointments, accusing him of violating Section 4(1) of the Presidential Office Act. According to this provision, the President must consult the Council of State before making such appointments. However, the Minority argues that since the Council has not yet been constituted, these appointments lack the necessary legal backing.
Patrick Boamah, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, has called for the immediate withdrawal of the appointment letters and urged the President to follow due process. He emphasized that all appointments should be made in accordance with the law to uphold good governance.
Beyond the appointments, the Minority has also raised concerns about Ghana’s foreign policy direction, particularly regarding the appointment of an envoy to the Sahel region. They argue that this move could signal a shift in Ghana’s traditionally neutral diplomatic stance and are demanding clarification from the President on whether this appointment affects the country’s position within ECOWAS and the global community.
As tensions rise, the Minority continues to press for answers, insisting that the President must provide transparency on both the appointments and Ghana’s evolving foreign policy approach.
