Manchester United beat Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup on Friday, which Chido Obi has been reacting to on social media.
Manchester United’s dream of winning a record 12th FA Youth Cup remains alive and well after their quarter-final triumph over Arsenal.
Adam Lawrence’s side played in front of a busy Emirates Stadium, looking to follow on from United’s 5-1 thrashing of Chelsea in the fifth round of the tournament.
Friday saw a far more stern test for United, as it took extra time to overcome the game Arsenal side.
Jack Fletcher opened the scoring for United, but it was short-lived as Arsenal soon took a 2-1 lead. Jaydan Kamason put the visitors level before extra time saw Bendito Mantato score the winner on his return.
After the game, there was plenty of reaction.

Chido Obi sends Jaydan Kamason a message after FA Youth Cup win
United’s quarter-final being against Arsenal had promised to see Chido Obi return to his former club with the opportunity to prove his decision correct.
Obi missed this chance to play for United against his former peers at Arsenal, yet in a way this justified his decision more than scoring against them would have.
Now a regular fixture of the first team, Obi bet on himself and came out on top. After United’s big win, the 17-year-old striker reacted to Kamason’s post on Instagram.
“Right until the end… my team… onto the semis”, wrote Kamason accompanied by pictures of himself mid-knee slide as he celebrated his thunderous goal to draw United level.
Under this post, Obi commented his reaction to Kamason’s post and also the game. Obi hilariously wrote in all capital letters, “THANK YOU SO MUCH”, followed by some crying laughing emojis.

Kamason pinned Obi’s message for all to see, with it making the striker’s verdict on Arsenal pretty clear. This follows a similar trend to the message Ayden Heaven sent United’s youngsters after the win.
The message could mean a series of things, perhaps Obi was thankful Arsenal were knocked out with Kamason playing a key role in the win. Alternatively, Obi could be glad that he will get a chance to win a medal in the competition.
Chido Obi will feel Manchester United switch is justified
When United secured the signing of Obi from Arsenal, it was seen widely as a very exciting addition and that remains the case today with his hype growing after impressive performances.
The decision to leave Hale End for Carrington upset plenty of fans in North London, but Obi was assured of his chances of progressing at United.
Harry Amass previously explained the pathway United laid out for him before joining in 2023 and we would imagine that Obi was given similar promises.
Now, on a night when Arsenal’s U18 side would have expected to face their former No.9, he was instead at home watching the game as he prepares to make his FA Cup debut on Sunday.
It is safe to say that Obi made the correct decision.
