David Seaman reveals how he won the Premier League
Speaking Sky Sports News whilst attending the London Football Awards, Arsenal legend David Seaman has been discussing the difference between his Premier League title team and the current crop under Arteta.
Seaman stated: “I needed a lot of luck to win the league and we haven’t had that this season at all, especially with the injuries we’ve had to key players and major players.”
The former Gunners goalkeeper refused to believe the title race was over just yet and bemoaned the current Arsenal injury crisis in comparison to Liverpool.
Seaman explained: “You take Salah out of the Liverpool team for a long time and they’re going to struggle, we’re the same with the likes of Bukayo [Saka], Martinelli’s out and Jesus.”
Mohamed Salah has scored more goals than Arsenal’s entire injured forwards
Whilst Arsenal have been extremely unfortunate with injuries this season, it doesn’t take away the fact that improvements are needed in forward areas ahead of the next campaign.
Highlighted by an incredible statistic involving Premier League top scorer Mohamed Salah, who has embarrassed the Gunners forward line.
Player | Goals | Assists |
Mohamed Salah | 25 | 17 |
Kai Havertz | 9 | 3 |
Gabriel Martinelli | 6 | 3 |
Bukayo Saka | 5 | 10 |
Gabriel Jesus | 3 | 0 |
Injured players combined total | 23 | 16 |
The graphic is a stark reminder to Arteta that whilst the gap would no doubt be closer than 13 points had the above quartet not been injured, Arsenal need to add more firepower to their front line.
Do that in the summer and the Gunners may well find themselves in the reverse position come this time next year.
