Arsenal fans got another glimpse of fan favourite Kieran Tierney ahead of his departure from the club in the summer transfer window.

The left-back was once the Gunners’ great hope during difficult days, offering plenty of attacking threat on the flank with driving runs and delicious crosses.

However, a system change from Mikel Arteta combined with injury issues for Kieran Tierney saw him slip down the pecking order.

Since returning to Arsenal in the summer from his loan at Real Sociedad, the star has returned from injury and has been involved on the fringes of the first-team.

Despite that, he doesn’t seem set to fight his way back into the reckoning, with Tierney set to join Celtic on a free transfer in the summer.

While an exit is on the cards, fans are still absolutely delighted to see the Scotland international involved again for the side.

Arsenal fans react to Kieran Tierney display against Nottingham Forest

Mikel Arteta made a bold call at half-time as he brought off Riccardo Calafiori, who had been an attacking threat.

The left-back featured as an auxiliary striker but his yellow card and general struggles against the Nottingham Forest attackers meant he was at risk.

Kieran Tierney came on in his place, featuring at left-back for one of his longer stints so far this season.

Most fans were absolutely delighted to see the defender back in action, taking to social media to rave about the star.

“I missed those Tierney crosses,” one fan said, while another added: “Almost with they’d taken Merino off for Tierney and moved Cala [Calafiori] up front lol.”

The frustration over the forward options was clear as well, with one supporter claiming: “One day, an Arsenal player will get on the end of one of Tierney’s worldie crosses.”

Fans were also happy with the substitution, stating: “I really like Tierney on for Calafiori. Do not want to risk it with him on a yellow. I’m also keen to see KT firing in crosses, which he is excellent at.”

“Kieran Tierney, love to see him,” another added. “I am slightly amazed it’s taken so long for Arsenal to fully commit to this 4231, especially considering the seemingly imminent arrival of Zubimendi.”

It’s unclear exactly how long Tierney has left at the Emirates Stadium, but fans will be hoping it is a memorable few months for him.

Kieran Tierney can still play a part for Arsenal this season

Arsenal defender Tierney can still make an impact for the side before the season is out in more ways than one.

While he is an option at left-back, the defender could actually feature across the left flank if required by the manager.

Tierney has featured at times on the left wing, whipping in some accurate crosses and causing some chaos with the chances he creates.

As Arsenal have struggled to open up teams, the different dimensions he offers to the team could be useful.
