A round-up of the latest Liverpool news as the Reds tell their scouts to watch a £50m defender while an £83m transfer target also makes history in the Champions League.

Sam Beukema expresses his desire for a transfer to Liverpool

Sam Beukema has named Liverpool as one of the ‘great’ teams he would like to one day join and fulfil the Bologna defender’s dreams of playing in the Premier League. The 25-year-old grew up supporting West Ham United but would be happy to get a chance to become a Red.

Anfield has already seen what the Dutchman can deliver this season after Beukema featured as Liverpool edged Bologna 2-0 in the Champions League. I Rossoblu boss Vincenzo Italiano also substituted him in the 62nd minute while 1-0 down having even received a yellow card.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot knew the Deventer native before he took over the Reds this summer, as well. Slot tried to sign Beukema for Feyenoord in 2021 and could one day get to work together at Anfield with the defender dreaming about one day playing on Merseyside.

Beukema told Corriere dello Sport: “I have ambitions and hope one day to be able to play maybe in the Premier League or another big club.

“I was a fan of West Ham. I once visited Upton Park with my father and I was really impressed because the atmosphere was similar to that of Feyenoord or Go Ahead Eagles.

“But there are so many fantastic teams in England. So, if another great club like Liverpool came along, I would be happy to go there one day.”

Liverpool scouted Loic Bade in Sevilla’s 5-1 thrashing at FC Barcelona

Liverpool utilised the resumption of domestic football after the October international break to resume scouting transfer targets including Sevilla defender Loic Bade. The Reds sent their talent spotters to catch the 24-year-old in action as his squad lost 5-1 away to FC Barcelona.

That is according to AS, which reports that Liverpool are closely following Bade as a possible replacement for Virgil van Dijk with the Dutchman out of contract next year. Sevilla are also not strongly opposed to selling the France talent as the La Liga side face financial problems.

Such is Sevilla’s woes that Bade may leave for far less than his €60m (£50m) release clause in either the January window or next summer. Liverpool are now deciding whether to launch a real assault for the 2022/23 Europa League winner who has played eight games this term.

Liverpool are considering a transfer for Jamie Gittens and saw the England U21 winger make Champions League history with Borussia Dortmund at Real Madrid on Tuesday. The 20-year-old secured BVB a 2-0 lead at the Santiago Bernabeu but they failed to hold on in a 5-2 loss.

Firing home his left-footed finish in the 34th minute at Los Blancos also saw Gittens become the youngest English player to ever score against Real Madrid. It also came amidst Liverpool preparing to target Gittens’ transfer, even with Borussia Dortmund demanding £83m to sell.

Westfalenstadion chiefs have put an eye-watering asking price on their latest ex-Manchester City prospect after Jadon Sancho with Gittens now boasting five goals and three assists in 11 games this season. His goal at the Bernabeu was also Gittens’ third in Europe this campaign.
