The New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency have accused former Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, of orchestrating the party’s defeat in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
They alleged that Adwoa Safo colluded with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to weaken the chances of the NPP’s candidate, Ambassador Aaron Mike Oquaye Junior.
Speaking at a press conference, Dome-Kwabenya NPP Constituency Chairman, Robert Osei Bonsu, claimed that Adwoa Safo’s failure to support the party and her alleged diversion of resources played a major role in fueling voter apathy and the NPP’s defeat.
“Adwoa Safo was absent from all campaign activities before and after losing the NPP primaries in 2024. She redirected NPP campaign resources to support the NDC candidate, neglected her parliamentary responsibilities, missed crucial votes such as the E-Levy bill, travelled to the U.S. without notice, and failed to attend assembly meetings. Efforts by the Chief of Staff and other senior figures to reconcile her with the party’s candidate were ignored,” he stated.

The NPP executives dismissed allegations from a youth group blaming them for the party’s loss, insisting they effectively managed the constituency in Adwoa Safo’s absence.
The NPP leadership in Dome-Kwabenya reaffirmed their commitment to rebuilding the party in the constituency and implementing strategies to reclaim the lost seat in future elections.
