Residents of Ojobi have been thrown into a state of apprehension due to a persistent case of theft perpetrated by a scrap dealer in the area.

According to a report by Adomonline.com, Mumuni Abubakar was arrested by the Gomoa Ojobi District Command for stealing over 200 cooking pots, saucepans, and coal pots within one week.

Residents say the suspect’s modus operandi was to seize opportunities to steal cooking utensils when people briefly stepped away while cooking at home.

Following widespread reports of missing cooking utensils, some residents mobilized and organized a search party, which led to Mumuni’s arrest. The stolen items were found hidden in an uncompleted building.

“I stepped away to use the toilet, and when I got back, my pot and the food had been taken,” a woman told Adom News.

Meanwhile, residents are calling on the police to increase patrols and surveillance in the area to curb the activities of such individuals.
