Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah is Acting CEO of GIADEC
President John Dramani Mahama has named Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC).
GIADEC, established under the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation Act, 2018 (Act 976), is responsible for developing and promoting a globally competitive Integrated Aluminium Industry (IAI) in Ghana.
The corporation oversees the government’s current and future investments in the aluminium sector, including its stakes in the Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO) and the Ghana Bauxite Company Limited (GBC).
As part of its mandate, GIADEC forges partnerships with strategic investors while ensuring significant local participation across the entire bauxite and aluminium value chain.
A key policy stipulates that at least 30% of any new venture in mining, refining, or smelting must be jointly owned by GIADEC and a Ghanaian private partner.
The IAI initiative encompasses four major projects, including the expansion of two existing operations and the development of two new ones through joint ventures.
Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah, an accomplished lawyer with extensive experience, steps into this leadership role at a pivotal moment for GIADEC.
His expertise covers diverse legal domains, including the extractive industry, real estate, medical negligence, corporate and commercial law, dispute resolution, family law, and criminal defence.
Ankrah holds an LLM in Energy Law, an LLB, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with Sociology, all from the University of Ghana. Currently a partner at Morrison, Twumasi & Partners, he heads the firm’s dispute resolution and litigation division.
With a strong background in legal advisory services, he has guided clients through investment analysis, energy and mining policies, compliance, and legal risk management.
Additionally, he has played a key role in project financing, debt restructuring, and securing regulatory approvals.
His wealth of experience and strategic problem-solving abilities position him to provide strong leadership as GIADEC advances Ghana’s Integrated Aluminium Industry agenda and navigates the complexities of the sector.
