Amid reports that Gifty Oware-Mensah, an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association and former Deputy Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), is wanted by the National Intelligence Bureau for questioning, GhanaWeb has learned that she is in Morocco with the Black Queens.

GhanaWeb sources indicate that Gifty Oware-Mensah, who is the chairperson of the Management Committee of the senior female national team, is in Morocco with the team, discharging her duties.

It is believed that Gifty Oware-Mensah will be flying with the team to Ghana when they finish their tour training tour in Morocco.

The sources tell GhanaWeb that Gifty Oware-Mensah will avail herself of accountability as she believes she conducted her duties as a Deputy Director of the NSA with utmost integrity.

The Black Queens are on a training tour in Morocco and played their first game under coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren on Friday, February 21, 2025. The Black Queens were edged out 1-0 by the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco.

The Queens are expected to take on Raja Club Athletic Women in their final game of the brief training tour on Monday, February 24, 2025.

Earlier, there were reports that the Ghana Football Association was considering holding emergency elections due to the supposed absence of Gifty Oware-Mensah, but those reports were quashed by the FA, which indicated that Gifty Oware-Mensah was still part of the FA’s Executive Council and attended meetings.

It is believed that the NIB wants to speak to Gifty Oware-Mensah as part of ongoing investigations into alleged payroll fraud at the NSA.

Oware-Mensah is a member of the GFA Executive Council, co-owner of Berry Ladies Football Club, and Vice President of Berekum Chelsea.
