St. Mary’s Girls Senior High School is set to mark its 75th anniversary in grand style, celebrating decades of academic excellence, character building, and the empowerment of young women.

The historic milestone will be commemorated with a series of events bringing together past and present students, faculty, and well-wishers to honor the legacy of the esteemed institution.

The anniversary festivities will be a time of reflection, camaraderie, and gratitude, as St. Mary’s Old Girls Association (SMOGA) leads the charge in rekindling memories of their school days.

From nostalgic moments about burnt groundnut soup in the dining hall to the unforgettable friendships forged within the school walls, the celebration promises to be an emotional and vibrant reunion.

SMOGA ’05 President, Lady Rita Bruce-Attuquayefio, alongside other senior alumni, has been actively sharing the school’s inspiring journey in media appearances on Sunny 88.7 FM and JOY 99.7 FM.

“It is a privilege to stand on the shoulders of giants – the Merries past and present and continue this journey of excellence,” she remarked.

The grand celebration will include main events such as Speech & Prize-Giving Day, taking place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at St. Mary’s School Field at 9:00 AM. The dress code for the event is the 75th Anniversary Kente (Blue and White).

Subsequently, a Thanksgiving Mass will take place on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka. The dress code for this event is all white, accessorized with royal blue or white.

Adding to the excitement, renowned blogger Douglas Osei will be covering both events, ensuring that SMOGA’s historic celebration makes waves on social media.

St. Mary’s alumni, along with students, parents, and well-wishers from sister schools such as Accra Academy, Mfantsipim School, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), Opoku Ware School, and the Old Achimotan Association (OAA), are encouraged to join the celebrations.

This milestone is not just a reflection on the past but a commitment to the future, ensuring that generations of Merries to come will continue to thrive in an environment that fosters excellence, community, and resilience.
