The Chiefs and people of Akatsi North, in the Volta Region, have commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the immense impact of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy on education in the country.

Welcoming Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and presidential candidate of the NPP, to Ave Havi in the Akatsi North Constituency on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the Chiefs praised the NPP government for implementing many social intervention programmes, singling out the Free SHS policy for special recognition.

The Chiefs noted that the Free SHS policy has “revolutionised education by providing millions of Ghanaian children with access to secondary education for free.”

The Chiefs, whose address was delivered on their behalf by Torgbui Adogo Agbalek, also acknowledged and thanked the NPP for a number of projects in the area, including the construction of dormitory and classroom blocks at Ave Senior High School, as well as providing a bus to the school.

Other projects mentioned by the Chiefs included the construction of District Assembly offices, a Magistrate court and bungalows, kindergarten blocks in the district, the Agenda 111 district hospital, and DRIP equipment for road rehabilitation.

The Chiefs commended and honoured Dr. Bawumia, who is also the NPP’s Presidential Candidate, for his impactful leadership as Vice President, which they said has improved governance and efficiency in public service.

“We acknowledge his dedication to public service and his unwavering commitment to the country’s progress, which is evident in his tireless efforts to drive economic growth, improve governance, and enhance the overall well-being of Ghanaians,” the Chiefs said of Dr. Bawumia.

The Akatsi North traditional rulers honoured Dr. Bawumia by presenting traditional leaves around his neck, symbolising their confidence and support for him. They declared that they were looking forward to his swearing-in as the next President of Ghana next year.
