Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has officially commenced his duties as the Minister of Health, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Ghana’s healthcare sector.

Addressing staff during a durbar held to welcome him on February 10, 2025, he emphasized the importance of teamwork and urged staff to collaborate with him in addressing the nation’s pressing health challenges.

These challenges according to him, include the uneven distribution of healthcare professionals, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, and the increasing burden of infectious and non-communicable diseases.

He further disclosed that the government has pledged to provide incentives for health workers to encourage them to accept postings in rural areas.

“With your support, I am confident that we will overcome challenges in the health sector, and we will be victorious in achieving one health in the country,” he stated.

Alhaji Hafiz Adam, the Chief Director of the Ministry, highlighted the importance of neutrality in the Civil Service.

He urged staff to collaborate with the new minister in developing and implementing innovative solutions, strengthening the healthcare system, and fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

He further encouraged ministry staff to uphold values such as loyalty, honesty, and fairness to drive progress within the Ministry.

During the durbar, some directors and staff had the opportunity to engage with the new minister, expressing their enthusiasm and commitment to working together to enhance healthcare delivery in Ghana.
