Kumawood actress Christiana Awuni and Rev. Charlotte Oduro
Kumawood actress Christiana Awuni has joined the growing list of Ghanaian celebrities that have lambasted Rev. Charlotte Oduro following the news of her divorce.
In an interview with Max TV on February 11, 2025, Christiana Awuni questioned why Charlotte Oduro didn’t apply what she termed as the controversial advice she often gives to women in their relationships.
She pointed to several instances where Charlotte Oduro advocated for women to stay in toxic marriages, claiming that no marriage is perfect, and asked why she couldn’t stay in her own.
Christiana emphasised that Charlotte Oduro wouldn’t have faced divorce if she had practiced what she preached.
“So, at that time, she was asking women to condone the bad habits of men and advising them to endure in their relationships, she has been divorced? In life, nobody knows what will happen tomorrow. No one knows what will happen in the next minute or hour. So, when others are going through pain, you should be careful about what you say.
“Maybe she thought she was offering advice, but that’s not how it works. You can’t just advise couples when you’re not in their marriage. She was always attacking women, not men. You can’t keep forcing women to endure marriages, respect their husbands, and so on. If you had respected your husband, would he have divorced you?” she queried.
When asked if Charlotte Oduro should apologise for constantly dishing out controversial marriage advice, which has caused bitterness among many Ghanaian women, Christiana Awuni responded, “If she is not ashamed, she should come and apologise to us and say that she’s sorry.”
Meanwhile, musician Mzbel and fashion critic Charlie Dior have also taken to social media to express concerns about the content of Rev. Charlotte Oduro’s teachings.
In a detailed post, Charlie Dior criticised what he described as the one-sided nature of her advice, which often places the burden of maintaining a marriage solely on women.
