Member of Parliament of the Bunkpurugu Constituency, Dr. Abed Bandim
The Member of Parliament of the Bunkpurugu Constituency in the North East Region, Dr. Abed Bandim, has responded to concerns raised by some youth in his constituency over the recent ministerial appointments by President John Dramani Mahama.
The youth of the constituency had gone on a protest to express disappointment over the exclusion of their MP in the latest deputy ministerial appointments by President John Dramani Mahama.
They argued that despite the constituency’s backing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party has disregarded them in terms of development and support for their leaders.
However, in a statement on his Facebook page on February 10, 2024, Dr. Bandim denounced the demonstrations and called for calm among the youth.
“I strongly disagree with the makers of the recent video and the demonstrations by the youth of Bunkpurugu/Nakpanduri district. While I respect the right to express concerns, I urge everyone to do so peacefully and responsibly,” he stated.
He also acknowledged that the president is aware of the problems the constituency faces and that measures are being put in place to ensure that the necessary infrastructural projects are completed.
“I want to assure the people of Bunkpurugu that President John Dramani Mahama is fully aware of our constituency’s needs and has a clear plan to address them. He will not disappoint the good people of Bunkpurugu.
“My priority as your Member of Parliament is to ensure that key infrastructure projects, such as the Nalerigu-Bunkpurugu road and the Sayoogu-Bunkpurugu road, are completed. Additionally, the Bunkpurugu District Hospital remains a crucial project that I am committed to seeing through. These are the issues that matter most to our people, and they will remain my focus,” he added.
Dr. Bandim further assured the constituents of the president’s plans for the country and expressed his confidence that his ‘appointment’ would come at the right time.
“The president has a well-structured plan for the next four years, and we must allow him the time and space to implement it. Nothing should distract or pressure him from delivering on the NDC’s manifesto promises to the people.
“I have full confidence that His Excellency President Mahama will not disappoint in this regard. I urge everyone to remain patient, constructive, and supportive of the government’s development agenda. Together, we can achieve the progress we seek for Bunkpurugu,” he said.
He added that “As a Christian who operates by faith, I believe that my latter glory is going to be greater than my former… Relatives and close friends who know me can attest that I am not in haste but wait for God’s own appointment time,” the statement concluded.
