Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, has made interesting observations about the ministerial appointments made by President John Dramani Mahama so far.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana program, Reverend Ntim Fordjour expressed puzzlement that the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, who is the daughter of the founder of the National Democratic Congress, has yet to receive an appointment.

He also questioned why the Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem, who is the brother of the late President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, has also not been given an appointment.

“Is it not interesting that the daughter of the former president, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, a very astute politician and a respected medical doctor who has distinguished herself, has not been named? That is very interesting to observe.

“It is also interesting that the brother of Professor Atta Mills, who is also a third-term Member of Parliament and a fantastic gentleman, has also not been appointed. It is also interesting to note that Isaac Adongo has still not been named,” he said.

So far, President Mahama, who promised to cap his ministerial appointments at sixty (60), has appointed fifty-four (54) individuals to substantive and deputy ministerial roles.

Speaking on the appointments made so far, Reverend Ntim Fordjour expressed satisfaction with the appointments and hoped that they would contribute to the development of the country.

“President Mahama’s government has just four years, and considering his philosophy, I doubt all the appointees will remain unchanged throughout. Whether it happens sooner or later, I sense that reshuffles may occur because many individuals within the party are equally capable and ready to step in for any position. They are prepared to take action whenever necessary,” he said.

He urged the appointees to see their new roles as an opportunity to contribute to the growth of the country.

“It should be seen as a unique chance, not an expectation of being compensated for past achievements, eloquence, or the advocacy and demonstrations you led that earned your accolades. This isn’t about loyalty being rewarded; rather, it should be perceived as a chance to contribute to the government in addressing specific challenges. Viewing it this way will encourage them to perform their duties with greater care,” he said.
