Paul Scholes sends message reacting to controversial Ruben Amorim decision vs Leicester, he’s in disbelief

Manchester United faced Leicester City on Friday night and despite renewed confidence, things started horrendously.

An excited Old Trafford crowd were soon left groaning as Manchester United were terrible up until the 68th minute.

Ruben Amorim’s side failed to have a single shot on target until Joshua Zirkzee opened the scoring which is an appalling view of how poor United have been – despite United going on to beat Leicester 2-1.

Amorim got a handful of decisions wrong – but none more so than two big calls on his starting team-sheet.

Patrick Dorgu was handed his United debut, but it came in a position which nobody expected.

Amorim’s decision to start Dorgu on the right was met with surprise – considering the left wing-back position has been an area of weakness all season.

Roy Keane questioned this decision at half-time – questioning at half-time whether it was fair to Dorgu.

Another United legend not happy with the decision was Paul Scholes – as he took to Instagram with a message reacting to the wing-back roles Amorim was deploying.

Scholes wrote: “Inverted wing backs… you saw it at OT first…”

This is in reference to how narrow Amorim’s wing-backs were playing which stifled any attacking intent United had in the game.

The solution is clear for Ruben Amorim

The lack of width was a clear problem for United in the first-half and in fairness to Amorim, he set about solving this issue immediately with the introduction of Alejandro Garnacho.

By introducing Garnacho, United had a player willing to stretch the pitch – as opposed to the first half with four players who wanted to sit narrow.

This decision changed the game for United and led to Joshua Zirkzee’s equaliser.

We can only hope that Amorim learns from this display and doesn’t make the mistake of Dalot at left wing-back and Dorgu on the right again.

The solution is clear – and if Amorim gets United playing as we did from the 60th minute onwards, it could change United’s fortunes.
