Manchester United fans have spoken out after seeing former goalkeeper David de Gea’s performance against Inter Milan.
After over 500 appearances across an incredible de 12 years with United, De Gea left Old Trafford in July 2023 following the expiration of his contract.
Despite links to several clubs abroad, particularly within the Saudi Pro League, the Spaniard spent a year away from the sport but later joined Serie A side Fiorentina on a one year deal ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Since making the move to Italy, several United fans have kept an eye on their former keeper, supporting him as a way of saying thanks for the success he brought the club, and after his latest performance they have spoken out.
On Thursday evening, De Gea started between the sticks for his new club for their massive top four clash with Italian giants Inter Milan.
He helped his side secure an important 3-0 home victory, leading to many United fans claiming that he is still a better keeper than Andre Onana, who replaced the 34-year-old at United.
Reacting to De Gea’s performance, one fan wrote: “David De Gea will always be a better goalkeeper than Andre Onana. This is a fact and period.”
And one simply asked: “Who from Manchester is responsible for scrapping out De Gea and signing Onana?”
One blamed former manager Erik ten Hag, adding: “Stupid Erik ten Hag, why did you kick all the good players out of the club? Are you normal? You kicked out the best goalkeeper, David De Gea.”

While one revealed: “I had a dream last night we sold Onana and brought back De Gea.”
Discussions regarding replacing De Gea with Onana have become more common in recent weeks as the Cameroonian keeper is clearly struggling with a difficult patch in his United career.
In a post last month, one fan pointed out that in his two years with the Red Devils, the 28-year-old has made 10 errors leading to goals, whereas De Gea made just seven more in 12 years at the club.
And when comparing their stats for their respective clubs this season, it is once again the Spaniard that comes out on top, boasting both a better saves percentage and total number of clean sheets since the start of the season, despite playing less matches.
