President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the comprehensive 2025 budget will be presented to Parliament in March.
This follows the earlier approval of a GH¢68.13 billion mini-budget by Parliament, which covers government expenditures for the first quarter of the year.
President Mahama emphasized that the forthcoming budget will guide the country’s fiscal planning and facilitate the implementation of key policies and programmes.
He made this announcement during his “Thank You” tour in the Central Region, expressing gratitude to the populace for their support in the December 7 general elections.
In a related development, President Mahama has directed the Minister of Fisheries, Emelia Arthur, to collaborate with the Minister of Finance to secure the necessary funding for the completion of the Anomabo Fisheries College in the Central Region.
Initiated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government in 2011, the project has remained unfinished since President Mahama’s previous tenure.
The facility, located in Anomabo, includes lecture theatres, a principal’s residence, fish ponds, boreholes, and a water pumping station.
Designed to accommodate 300 students, the college is expected to play a crucial role in promoting sustainable fishing practices and aquaculture education in Ghana.
President Mahama highlighted that the remaining work is minimal, requiring only the procurement of furniture, teaching materials, and the completion of campus roads before the institution can commence operations.
He has tasked the Fisheries and Finance Ministries to prioritize funding to ensure the swift completion of the college, underscoring its significance to Ghana’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.
