Why Should Allan Kyerematen Receive Appointment In Mahama Administration?

Many Ghanaians are wondering whether Alan Kyerematen would land a major post in the incoming government as President Mahama starts disclosing his nominations.
This expectation corresponds with comments made by President Mahama during his inauguration, where he underlined his will to create a government inclusive of all. Mahama said in his inaugural speech: “Today marks the beginning of an era full of fresh possibilities and change as we honour a new government.
Supported by Nana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, we are ready to propel inclusivity and development forward, bound by our vision for a richer Ghana.” Though it seems improbable that Kyerematen, a former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Movement for Change founder, would be nominated as one of Mahama’s 60 ministers, there is great conjecture that he could be given a major influence in the government.
One of the first people to congratulate President Mahama following his December election triumph, Kyerematen offered the president-elect the Great Transformational Plan (GTP).
The paper offered recommendations meant to assist the agenda of the incoming government. Under President Akufo-Addo’s government, Kyerematen was Ghana’s Minister of Trade and Industry, but he resigned to contest the presidency.
Apart from his political background, he has supervised the African Trade Policy Centre (ATPC) in Addis Ababa as a trade counsellor at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).
