Arsenal are seemingly working incredibly hard to sign a striker this month who fits in with Mikel Arteta’s long-term vision for the club.
Arsenal want Benjamin Sesko ideally, a tall, powerful striker who could complement Kai Havertz in Arteta’s squad, a pair who could even line up in the same team.
Signing Sesko certainly won’t be easy for Arsenal’s new transfer team, but it is believed that an offer of around £70m would force RB Leipzig to speak to the striker at least.
That being said, were Arsenal able to land a striker this month, they could perhaps accelerate some of their eventual plans in the summer too.
Trossard rejected a new contract offer from Arsenal recently according to reports, perhaps suggesting that his time in north London is coming to an end.
Jakub Kiwior could actually help Arsenal sign Ademola Lookman in the summer
If that were the case, Arsenal could end up turning their attention to recruiting a world-class winger.
Arsenal are interested in Ademola Lookman, who seems a lot more attainable than Nico Williams for example.
And if the Gunners reignite that interest, they could have a trump card up their sleeve.
According to a new report by Polish outlet Przeglad Sportowy, Atalanta are interested in signing Jakub Kiwior.
Arsenal Insider revealed recently that Arsenal had rejected an approach from Juventus for Kiwior, a defender they’re not looking to sell this month.
But come the summer, Arsenal might be able to use Kiwior in a straight swap deal for Lookman, in an ideal world.
And the prospect of a straight swap isn’t unrealistic either.
Lookman is thought to be keen on a move to Arsenal and the winger will only have 12-months left on his contract in the summer, which would dramatically reduce his asking price, even if the club have an option to extend.
Lookam is interested in joining Arsenal
Arsenal paid £17.5m to sign Kiwior in January 2023, and therefore they would probably expect to recoup something similar when they sell.
When Arsene Wenger executed a swap deal to get Henrikh Mkhitaryan in exchange for Alexis Sanchez in 2018, it was a bit of a disaster.
But Lookman arriving at the Emirates Stadium in place of Kiwior could definitely be more palatable from an Arsenal point of view, even if they need to add some cash to the deal.
Obviously these things are never easy, and Lookman, a Ballon d’Or nominee, is likely to attract a ton of interest in the summer if he still hasn’t signed a new deal by then.
But being able to offer a player in exchange for Lookman could be vital, Kiwior wants to leave Arsenal, and therefore it could be a happy result for all.
