Liverpool continued their winning run under Arne Slot as they overcame Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday.

Virgil van Dijk was expecting a tough test, and Chelsea certainly provided such a test on their trip to Merseyside.

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz was praised before the Premier League match at Anfield, but Arne Slot did not start with his South American players.

Having just travelled far for the international break, Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez all started on the bench for Liverpool against Chelsea.

But the Uruguayan was forced on early for the injured Diogo Jota, right after Mohamed Salah opened the scoring from the spot.

Gary Neville makes Andy Robertson claim in Liverpool vs Chelsea

His goal, however, came after a worrying start from Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson in the eyes of Gary Neville.

Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event (4.47pm, 20 October), the former Man United defender said: “There’s something not quite right about Robertson in these opening 15 minutes or so.

“Usually he is right in the face of his winger but he’s standing off [Noni] Madueke. He’s sitting off him five or 10 yards. It’s really strange watching the Liverpool left back.”

Just nine minutes later, Neville continued: “Robertson is struggling. Madueke has got in his head.”

Andy Robertson proves his worth under Arne Slot once more

The left-back has been a stunning servant for the club over the years, with Robertson having joined Liverpool for just £10million in 2017.

Hull City lost a rising star back then, and Liverpool perhaps unknowingly gained one of their best ever defenders.

The Scotland captain has barely put a foot wrong during his time on Merseyside, and he recovered well at Anfield on Sunday after losing out early on in that battle with Madueke.

His experience on the pitch speaks for itself, with Robertson absolutely adored by the Liverpool supporters.

It remains to be seen how long he has left at Anfield, but for the time being he is still massively respected and a very key player for Slot.

The hosts were caught sleeping early in the second half as Nicolas Jackson netted an equaliser, but Curtis Jones was on hand to put the Reds back in front quickly after.
