Juventus chief makes new Paul Pogba statement with transfer update amid Man United reunion ‘talks’

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba looks set to leave Juventus after the club’s sporting director admitted the Italians’ squad is “complete” ahead of his return from a doping ban.

The 31-year-old, who re-signed for United in an £89m deal in 2016 before leaving as a free agent in 2022, is currently serving an 18-month ban after testing positive for a supplement that boosts testosterone levels in September 2023.

France international Pogba was initially banned for four years by Italy’s National Anti-Doping Tribunal, but that was reduced to 18 months after a successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport earlier this year.

But despite being primed for a return to action in March 2025, Pogba’s attempt to rebuild his career appears set to take place away from Juventus after Cristiano Giuntoli hinted that there would be no room for him at the Allianz Stadium.

“Our position is clear. Pogba has been a great player, he has been out for a long time and last year we were forced to invest in other players,” said Giuntoli ahead of the club’s home match against Lazio. “So now the squad is complete as it is.”

Pobga’s current deal with the Serie A giants has less than two years remaining, and he will be eligible to return to training in January.

Malick Traore of NCI recently revealed that Pogba is in ‘advanced discussions’ about a potential reunion with his ex-United teammate Mason Greenwood at Marseille. The French side have kicked off the season in impressive form, currently sitting third in Ligue 1 and having bagged 14 points from their first seven matches.

Asked in a recent interview with Sky Sports where he sees his future, Pogba said: “Where would I like to play? On the pitch! I would love to be on the pitch! Any pitch. First Juventus, I want to start training with team-mates. It’s tough training alone – it passes by yourself!

“The main focus is to get back training and fit, to be on the pitch and do what I love.”
