A fascinating report has revealed how much Zinedine Zidane would have cost in today’s transfer market.

Zidane shone in his homeland as he enjoyed spells at Cannes and Bordeaux at the beginning of his legendary career.

After a series of impressive performances in France’s top flight, not to mention his heroics for the national team, he had offers to join Europe’s elite clubs in 1996.

Zidane opted to sign for Juventus, who won the Champions League the season before, beating Ajax in the final.

The Frenchman excelled in the Serie A, making 214 appearances across all competitions, scoring 31 goals, helping the Italian giants to two league titles, among other major silverware.

His showings in Italy alerted Real Madrid, who splashed the cash to secure his services.

After five seasons at Juve, Zidane swapped Turin for Madrid.

The Spanish giants tabled a massive £69.8 million – almost double the previous world-record transfer fee.

Zidane proved to be valued for money as he inspired Real to great success, establishing himself as one of the world’s best.

In his first season at the club, he scored a sensational goal to win the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen.

But what transfer fee would Zidane command if he was playing in this era?

Well, according to a report, he would have had a value of £158 million.

That means only Neymar and Kylian Mbappe would have cost more in today’s market.

Of course, both players signed for Paris Saint-Germain in mega-money transfers.

Neymar joined PSG in a transfer worth £198 million while Mbappe left AS Monaco for £163 million

Zidane’s adjusted fee of £158 million is more than what the likes of Paul Pogba, Jude Bellingham and Cristiano Ronaldo went for during their careers.
