Arsenal star Bukayo Saka picked up an injury while playing for England in October’s international break.

The Gunners have had terrible luck with injuries this season. They have had one player or another unavailable from the start of the campaign, and the international games have hurt them.

Martin Odegaard suffered a serious ankle injury that has already kept him out of action for over a month. Gabriel Martinelli has also picked up a calf problem recently, which is another worry.

The biggest concern, however, is about Saka’s injury.

Bukayo Saka injury update ahead of Bournemouth vs Arsenal

Saka suffered what appeared to be a hamstring injury while playing for England against Greece in the Nations League.

The Englishman went to ground in pain and had to be attended by the medical staff. He then limped off the pitch and subsequently withdrew from the squad.

Saka returned to Arsenal for further assessment of his injury, and fans have been waiting with bated breath for an update.

The last thing the Gunners need right now is a serious injury to Saka, who is arguably their best and most important player.

Thankfully, there is some good news.

The Evening Standard reveal that Saka is ‘hopeful’ that he will be fit and ready to go when Arsenal take on Bournemouth on Saturday.

That is exactly the news every Arsenal fan wanted to hear and it is a big relief too.

Mikel Arteta should make surprise Arsenal decision vs Bournemouth

If there’s one complaint from Arsenal fans about Mikel Arteta, it’s that the Spaniard rarely ever gives Saka a break. That has been a concern for a few years now.

Yes, Arsenal don’t have a like-for-like alternative for the Englishman on the right flank, but we feel it’s still risky to use him in almost every single game.

Saka is hopeful of returning for the game against Bournemouth on Saturday, but we think Arteta should make the surprise decision of leaving him out of the starting lineup.

The Gunners have some big games coming up after this weekend, and losing Saka for those fixtures would be disastrous.

We think Raheem Sterling is more than good enough to replace Saka against Bournemouth. Gabriel Jesus can play there too, as can young Ethan Nwaneri.
