Don’t jeopardise your future because of my political ambition

The Member of Parliament for Asawase, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has warned the youth in Ghana, particularly his constituents, against jeopardising their future by engaging in unlawful acts on election day to secure political victory for any politician, including himself.

Addressing a campaign gathering in his constituency, the former Minority Chief Whip advised the youth not to sacrifice their lives for any politician, emphasizing that it is not worth the risk.

“Don’t follow me and destroy your future, and don’t follow others to destroy your future either. Don’t let anyone influence you with GH₵50 or GH₵100 to do anything unlawful that could harm your future. I beg you, you don’t know what God has planned for your future, so be mindful of what you do with your life now.

“Don’t involve yourself in any unlawful act to help someone become an MP or President. If you are caught, you will be prosecuted. Your actions will bring shame to your family and ruin your future.

“Just as I am important, so are you. By the grace of God, I am an MP today, but we don’t know what you might become in the future—you could even become the President of Ghana. So, as I’ve said, don’t let hunger push you to do things that are illegal,” Muntaka stated.

He emphasized that one’s actions shape their legacy and can have long-lasting consequences, urging the youth to exercise caution in their decisions.

“Remember that you are still growing up and writing your own history. If I were a bad person, would you have elected me as MP? If I had not taken my education seriously, would you have elected me as MP? If I were insulting people, would you have elected me as MP?

“So, to the youth, don’t allow yourselves to be used for someone else’s dirty work. You are writing your own history. When you become an adult and aspire to hold positions of responsibility, people will remember your actions from your youth.”
