The Leader and Founder of the Living Yahweh Seventh Day Sabbath Assemblies, Apostle Okoh Agyemang, stole the spotlight at the 16th Ghana Leadership Awards (GLA) ceremony held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
He emerged as the overall best winner, sweeping two of the most prestigious awards of the night.
The influential man of God, accompanied by a large delegation from his congregation, received the “International Humanitarian Award 2024” and the “Community Spirit Award 2024” for his exemplary leadership qualities, community development initiatives, national and international humanitarian services, and efforts toward human empowerment, among other achievements.
The atmosphere was electrified with loud cheers and songs of praise as he accepted the accolades.
Two citations were read in Apostle Okoh Agyemang’s honor by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Leadership Awards, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Yao Nash.
The first citation read: “With heartfelt thanks for your world-class humanitarian service and leadership, and by your extraordinary service at difficult times in people’s lives, you have improved, impacted, and contributed to the wellbeing of many people financially, mentally, physically, socially, spiritually, and emotionally in Ghana and across the world. We are proud to honor you today with this award [International Humanitarian Award 2024]. Congratulations!”
The second citation highlighted his impact on communities, stating: “You created opportunities and demonstrated good leadership, dedication, and innovation for those who needed them the most. You also brought positive change in many communities with your humanitarian services, advocating for and helping foster a better next generation. This Community Spirit Award 2024 recognizes your exemplary contributions to the global community. Congratulations!”
The awards were presented by Bishop Francisca Duncan Williams, ex-wife of the leader of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams.
The 16th Ghana Leadership Awards ceremony was themed: “Refuse Politicians Visa Until Elections Are Conducted.”
Rev. Professor Emmanuel Yao Nash, CEO of the Ghana Leadership Awards and advocate for the recent U.S. visa restriction policy, reiterated his call for embassies to deny visas to politicians or individuals attempting to undermine Ghana’s peace and democracy. He explained, “When politicians know they cannot leave the country during this election period, they will conduct themselves decently in their campaigns and actions.”
Apostle Okoh Agyemang expressed profound gratitude for the recognition, describing the GLA as the “mother of all awards” in Ghana. Inspired by the honor, he pledged to continue his work for God, humanity, and the nation, affirming the adage: “To whom much is given, much is expected.”
The event also recognized other notable personalities for their contributions in various fields:
– Renowned actress and TV personality, Nana Ama McBrown, was honored for her achievements in the entertainment industry.
– Manye Naa Klorkor Asamanhie I, a biochemist and international journalist with DWTV and GTV, received the Unsung Heroes Award for her exceptional work in advocacy and storytelling.
– Ubor Magal Kuunboln, Konkomba Basare Chief for the Tema Region, was celebrated with the Government Leader of the Year Award for his exemplary governance.
– ADO1 Mrs. Caroline Ahiati, Welfare Officer at the Ghana National Fire Service, was recognized as the Welfare Personality of the Year for her dedication to staff welfare.
The President of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG), Mr. Samuel Afotey Out, was also among the honorees.
The colorful event celebrated outstanding leadership, service, and innovation, marking another successful chapter in the Ghana Leadership Awards’ legacy.
