The Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, Stephen Abamfo, has underscored the importance of creating an environment in our communities that fosters a culture of reading among students in schools.
Speaking at the 2nd National Reading Festival in Accra on Thursday, November 14, 2024, Abamfo emphasised the importance of reading for children’s learning development, noting that it helps unlock a wealth of knowledge and fosters imagination.
According to him, the goal of the National Reading Festival is to inspire children to discover and access the knowledge hidden within books.
“This festival is not just about promoting literacy. It’s about encouraging our children to dig deep and uncover those hidden treasures within books. As they turn each page, they will find insights that challenge their thinking and inspire their dreams,” he stated.
Abamfo further urged parents and guardians to encourage their kids to cultivate the habit of reading.
Abamfo assured of the directorate’s commitment to supporting reading in schools and communities by providing access to books and resources for every child nationwide.
“I want to assure you of our unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of reading in our schools and communities. We are dedicated to providing access to quality books and resources for every child in the country. We believe that every child deserves the chance to discover the treasures that reading can offer,” he assured.
